Welcome

I’m a freelance writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, daughter and our feisty min-pin-chihuahua mix, Lucky. I’ve written about arts and culture, health, parenting and travel for Brain,Child,Good Housekeeping, the Los Angeles TimesSalonand The Mighty, among other publications. I’m also working on a memoir about my experience raising a young child diagnosed with pediatric bipolar disorder. My articles and essays related to this topic include “Bipolar at 5?,” a piece I wrote for GreatSchools, a trusted parenting and education resource. The story won a Western Publishing Association Maggie Award for excellence in journalism in 2014.

When I’m not writing or catching up on housework, I enjoy running, hiking and chasing a usually elusive state of inner calm at my local yoga studio. I’m always up for a weekend getaway—especially ifthere’s a nice hotel involved—or longer travel adventure. And whether I’m on the road or at home, I love taking photos. (A bit too much if you ask my daughter, who finds my picture-taking habit annoying and regrets introducing me to Instagram.) Then again, she’s a teenager, so pretty much everything I do annoys her these days.
